Plush Team Annual

I know I've mentioned the Plush Team book before, but as I just happened to be taking a picture of the dog tags my Ninja Bunnies won in the "Plush Warfare: Call of Duty" competition, and the book just happened to be in the background, I thought I'd give you all the stats!

 

The Plush Team is ecstatic to present to you our first ever Team Annual, containing 120 pages of plushy goodness!

What is in store for you upon opening this marvelous book:

• An opening by our team founder, Megan Green, describing how our team came to be.
• An insightful, informative, and all-around fascinating account of the history of plush craft by our team co-founder Christina Ward.
• 42 two-page, full color features of our Plush Team members. Each includes  photos of the artist's work, and text written by the artist explaining motivation, process, and inspiration.
• A time line of Plush Team activities through over the years.Profile pages providing a comprehensive list of Plush Team artists, including artist head shots and Etsy shop addresses.
• Photos of PT Stitchy, the team mascot, scattered throughout the book in his various incarnations as interpreted by our team members.

The book is full color, professionally printed, and soft cover. It measures 6.75"x6.75" (or 17 centimeters square). This is volume 1 of our Team Annual, featuring the artists from 2009. Our intent is to make this a yearly publication, updating it each year with our newest members and their incredible work.

Mr. Belvedere

Trolling through Hulu searching for something to watch with one eye while I worked on the computer I discovered they had added one of my favorite 1940's comedies, Sitting Pretty.

 

Clifton Webb plays the curmudeon--and self-proclaimed genius--Mr. Belvedere, who whips his employers' family into shape. Struggling against my natural tendencies as the Queen of Chaos*, I have nothing but admiration for this man.

And I may have resorted to the oatmeal bowl over the head trick once or twice myself.

*In my own defense, I must remind you that the natural order of the universe is to move towards entropy.

Another New Friend

I guess I'm doing a series of pincushions based on backyard pests, or at least backyard pests in my neighborhood. 

 

I  have to admit I was really, really tempted to make a tiny little garbage can for him to root around in. But I resisted, and put him in his "natural" habit instead (as opposed to hanging out by the dumpsters behind the grocery store). 

And although we occasionally have opossums wandering through our yard, I'm pretty sure I won't be recreating them in miniature. They just look like giant albino rats--giant angry pointed-toothed albino rats--to me. Not cute. Not cute at all. Major heebie-jeebies when one of those waddles through the yard. So I think Ricky* is the end of the new wildlife for now.

*but there must be a better name for a raccoon!

Hammock Reading

Although, as the holder of a degree in English Literature and therefore a literary snob/Jane Austen freak, I probably shouldn't admit in public to reading (and enjoying) anything written after 1970, let alone something described as "chick-lit", sometimes I am a trifle wayward in my reading habits. But it's hammock reading season, so forgive me.

 

Yup, I am reading Wanna Get Lucky?, and yup, it definitely fits the bill for trashy hammock (or beach, should you not be the albino that I am) reading. Thank goodness Nut Boy is away at camp, so there's one less person to notice I'm not getting a single thing done until I finish it...
 

Monterey Mills

Plush Team already loves Monterey Mills, the textile manufacturer based in Wisconsin who donated the fur for our classes at Maker Faire.  But now they've come up with another reason to love them (and wool!).

These guys were created for the Plush Team challenge "Call of Duty: Plush Warfare". And yes, I will go over their little black suits with a lint brush before their official photo shoot!

Scaredy Squirrel

Although, actually, I'm pretty brave when it comes to tarantulas. Must be the fangs and fur that make them so appealing.
